Aesthetic Society Elects Top Officers at 2013 Annual Meeting in New York City

Nashville plastic surgeon Jack Fisher MD, is the new President of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). The Aesthetic Society, with nearly 2,600 members, is the leading national organization of board-certified plastic surgeons specializing in cosmetic surgery of the face and body. The election of new officers was held on April 16th, during the ASAPS 2013 Annual Meeting in New York, NY which was attended by plastic surgeons from around the world.

After completing his internship and residency in General Surgery at George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, DC, Dr. Fisher relocated to Atlanta, GA to finish his plastic surgery residency at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Fisher was certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) in 1981, and he is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Fisher is in private practice in Nashville, TN and is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Plastic Surgery at Vanderbilt University. An Aesthetic Society Member since 1989, Dr. Fisher currently serves on multiple Society committees, and serves as a board member of the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation (ASERF). In both 2004 and 2006 he was the recipient of the Aesthetic Societys Award for Best Panel Moderator. Dr. Fisher is a toy train aficionado and he built the toy train layout at the Vanderbilt Childrens hospital, and has sponsored the Christmas Train Show at the Adventure Science Museum in Nashville for the past 26 years.

President-Elect: Michael C. Edwards, MD of Las Vegas, NV. An Aesthetic Society Member since 2002, Dr. Edwards has served on multiple committees and working groups. He served in the United States Air Force for 19 years with assignments to Europe and the Middle East. Dr. Edwards is currently the Chair of the Industry Relationship Committee, and Fellowship Review Committees. He currently serves as a board member of the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation (ASERF). Dr. Edwards is very involved in local and national medical societies and is currently President-Elect of the Clark County Medical Society and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Vice President: James C. Grotting, MD of Birmingham, AL. An Aesthetic Society Member since 1992, Dr. Grotting is in private practice in Birmingham, AL and is a Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at The University of Alabama at Birmingham and The University of Wisconsin, Madison. He is a senior examiner for the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Grotting currently serves as Chair of the Aesthetic Societys Education Commission, and serves on multiple Society committees. Additionally, he is a board member of the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation (ASERF). He serves on numerous editorial boards and is the author of five major textbooks in plastic surgery. Dr. Grotting has provided free plastic surgery for children with facial deformities in developing countries, through Operation Smile, since 1987.

Treasurer: Daniel C. Mills, II, MD of Laguna Beach, CA. An Aesthetic Society Member since 1992, Dr. Mills is in private practice and is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. Dr. Mills currently serves as Chair of the Aesthetic Societys Communications Commission, he is the Technnology Editor of the Aesthetic Surgery Journal (ASJ), and serves on multiple Society committees. He is the past president of the California Society of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Mills has provided free plastic surgery for impoverished children with congenital and acquired deformities in developing countries, through Operation Good Samaritan, since 1995.

Secretary: Clyde H. Ishii, MD of Honolulu, HI. An Aesthetic Society Member since 1996, Dr. Ishii is in private practice and is the Chief of Plastic Surgery at Honolulu Shriners Hospital. Dr. Ishii currently serves as Chair of the Societys Finance and Investment Committee, the International Traveling Professor Program, the International Visiting Fellow Program, the Medical Students Program, and the Webinar Subcommittee, and he also serves as the Membership Commissioner. He served as President and Governor-at-large of the Hawaii chapter of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Ishii does volunteer burn reconstruction, hand surgery and treatment of congenital deformities at the Honolulu Shriners Hospital.
